Blogging Tips for Beginners!

Hi Guys and welcome to another blog post!

I am very new to Blogging, so I thought I would share my tips for beginners while it's still fresh in my head.

I have always wanted to start a Blog, but I was worried about what other people might think. My first piece of advise for new Bloggers is to not care about what others think. If you want to write a Blog, just do it! Who cares what other people say? They don't have to read it.

So, once you have decided that you are going to create a Blog, how do you go about setting it up? My tip for beginners is to use a free Blogging platform. I am currently using Blogger, but there are others out there, such as WordPress and Weebly. Experiment on this free platform. Find out what your readers like and this is also a chance to discover your style without costing you a penny.  There are a variety of themes to choose from and you also get a free domain. I have now bought my own domain name, but I still use Blogger as my platform.

Struggling for ideas? Don't worry! I know that I am still finding it difficult to find things to write about. I use Pinterest to get inspiration for photographs, topics, products to review etc. Once you have written a few posts you will start to get a feel for what direction you want to take your Blog in, and you will find that ideas start coming to you more naturally. Everybody needs a starting point.

Another key to Blogging is organisation. I went out and bought myself a new notebook and diary to plan and schedule my Blog posts. Keep these in your bag, so that when you are out and about and have an idea for a post or see some inspiration, you can scribble it down before you forget it.

This leads me onto my next tip and that is to have an upload schedule. Set yourself a realistic schedule that you will be able to stick to. Regular uploads will keep your readers engaged and they will also know when to look out for new posts. This is where your diary will be very useful.

Now that we have some ideas buzzing around and we have our schedule ready, lets move onto the content itself. Posts are likely to get more readers if they contain images. A lot of people don't like blocks and blocks of writing on a page, it just makes it very difficult to read. Breaking text up with images makes it much easier to follow. As images are such a significant part in Blogging, they need to be of a reasonably high quality. If your images are blurred or too small, then this may put people off. So, I would suggest getting yourself a decent camera. It doesn't have to be the most expensive camera on the market with all of the fancy add ons, just a simple digital camera would suffice. If you do not want to invest in a camera, most smartphone cameras produce high quality photos nowadays. I use the Canon EOS 550D.

Make it your own! This is probably the best piece of advice I can give to anyone thinking of starting a Blog. People like something that is unique. Don't just produce popular posts or what you think people want to read. Write about what you feel passionate about and topics that interest you. This will result in much more popular posts because they will be more interesting to your readers. If posts are forced then your readers will be able to tell. And have a catchphrase. I always end my Blog posts with "Catch you next time!" This just adds some consistency throughout your Blog, sort of like branding.

And how do I get people to read my Blog posts? Social media is going to be your best friend when it comes to promoting your Blog. Keep you readers informed about what you are planning and when you upload a new post. Also, interact with other new Bloggers and help each other out. You are all in the same boat. Bounce ideas off of each other and promote each others Blogs as well as your own

We're coming to the end of this post now, but I have just a couple more tips to share with you. Take your time! Don't rush into creating your Blog and getting your first post up. Really focus on making your page look professional. People are not going to revisit a Blog that looks thrown together and untidy. Make sure you are 100% happy with how everything looks before even thinking about posting.

Finally, stick with it. It may be difficult when starting out as a Blogger, because people may not be viewing your page as you had hoped. It will take a while for your Blog to take off, but be patient with it and keep using social media like I said.

So, that's it for my Blogging Tips for Beginners. I really hope you have enjoyed this post and have found it useful. Please share any other tips that you have for new Bloggers in the comments.
