How To Become More Positive About Yourself

Hi Guys and welcome to another Blog post!

Self-confidence is something that I have always struggled with. I have never been happy with my figure or the way I look, and I always feel second best. But, recently, I have tried to focus on becoming more positive about myself and I thought it would be an idea to share this with you.

Firstly, don't compare yourself to others. I was a huge culprit of doing this, especially through my school years. So, if someone was to get a higher mark than me in a test, I would immediately put myself down and feel rubbish, even if I didn't have a bad mark. If there was no-one else in the class and I received the same marks, I would have been happy with it. I know that this is a really hard thing to avoid, but don't ask your friends what they got or look over their shoulder. Focus on your work and your achievements, and you will feel so much better about yourself. Lets face it, there is always going to be someone better than you, but that's okay. As long as you feel as though you are being the best that you can be.

Cut out the negative people in your life. If there is someone who is constantly telling you that you're not good enough, or making you feel bad about yourself, then move away from them. People have no right to make you feel like you can't do something, and if you want it, then you go and get it. Ignore the people who tell you differently.

Focus on self-care. This is something that I have never been very good at, because I have always been rushed off my feet with school or work. But, I now try to run myself a bath at least once a week, instead of having a shower, and try to relax. I've found that I'm a much calmer, more laid back person; I don't feel as stressed, my skin has cleared up and I have a much more positive outlook on life. Being in a better mind set is definitely the way to go if you want to feel happier and more positive, and taking a step back and clearing your head is how you're going to achieve this.

Take a social media break. Social media has become a big part of life nowadays, and pretty much everyone I know owns an account on at least one platform. I go on social media every single day, without fail, and here I am telling you to take a break from it. But, I see so many negative comments on Instagram posts, tweets and YouTube videos, and that is going to make a person feel pretty rubbish about themselves. So, what's the answer? Get away from those comments. If you can brush them off and not let them effect you, then that's great and hats off to you, but I know I am definitely not one of those people. Words can really hurt, especially when they are behind a computer screen. It doesn't even have to be a massive break, just a day or two could be enough to escape from the virtual world and enjoy life. Forget about those people who like to make you feel bad and go out and do something that you enjoy.

Also, with Instagram in particular, I find myself scrolling through and thinking "I wish I looked like her" or "Her figure is perfect!" It is unhealthy to be comparing yourself to others. Everybody is different, and I really don't believe that anyone is perfect. So, getting away from that for a few days will allow you to focus on learning to love yourself, and not the people on your Instagram feed.

Get some exercise in! I know this can be difficult if you work or are in full time education, but I feel so much better about my body, and much more comfortable in my own skin since I joined the gym. I also feel a lot happier in myself and less stressed in life. Exercise releases endorphins and endorphins make you happy. The happier you are, the more positive you are going to be about life.

Most of the things that I have mentioned go without saying, but I really do believe in the phrase "It's the little things in life." These things are not massive steps or changes and they make a huge difference. If you have any additional ways that you have to stay positive, then share them in the comments. Let's make 2018 a more positive year for everyone! Head over to my social media, which will be linked below as always, so that you never miss a new post.

Catch you next time!
