Struggles That All Cat Owners Can Relate To...

Hi Guys and welcome to another Blog post!

As much as I love my furry friends, they can be a struggle to live with at times. And no matter how much these things get on my nerves, I would not change them for the world.

Let's start with sleeping as it's every cats favourite thing to do, alongside eating. My cats always like to curl up next to me or at the end of my bed when I go to sleep. However, I end up on the edge of the mattress, because the cats have taken over the rest of the bed. It's worse than being in a relationship!

I also find that I will get up for a drink or to go to the toilet, and I will come back to find one of the cats has pinched my space. They wait for you to warm it up and then hop straight in.

I am not a morning person and I do not appreciate being woken up either. So, when the cats come in at 6am and climb all over me, wailing and tapping my face, you can imagine that I do not welcome them with open arms. Close your bedroom door you say? Well, it's not that simple. For starters they sleep in my room and I do not have the heart to kick them out. And then, even when they are outside, they tap on the window or scratch at the door. I have tried ignoring them and they will not give up until I respond.

This one is sort of related to the early morning thing. If I have to get up in the night, I will tiptoe around the house in the hope that I do not surface the cats. But, it never works out and all three of them are always waiting outside the bathroom door.

Say goodbye to wearing anything black or white. These colours in particular seem to show up cat hairs the most. There is no point in trying to remove them, because you will be at it all day. No sooner do you get the cat hairs off of your clothing, they are back again.

No more peeing or having a shower in peace. I don't know if any other cats do this, or whether mine is just odd. Electra, the youngest, always seems to follow me to the bathroom. She will sit beside me on the toilet, and will sometimes even get on my lap, and sits outside the shower until I come out. She will then get into the shower tray and drink the water from the bottom. Why she can't just have a drink out of the perfectly good bowl put out for her, I do not know!

There are muddy paw prints on everything, especially at this time of year. My cats are hunters and they are always digging up holes looking for mice. But, they then come back in the house - sometimes with the mouse too - and put their paws on anything in sight. In relation to the mouse, I always seem to be running outside in my pyjamas to rescue another small mammal that the cats have managed to catch.

Whenever I buy a new blanket the cats seem to think it has been bought for them and jump on it straight away, before I've even had a chance to use it myself. I'm sure that most of the blankets I have purchased are now being used in cat beds!

Can anyone relate to these struggles as a cat owner, or is it just mine that do these things? Head over to my social media, which will be linked below as always, so that you never miss a new post.

Catch you next time!
